VOCALOID is a voice synthesizing software – in other words, with Vocaloid, you can input words and the pitch, then have the program sing for you. While seemingly simple, each Vocaloid voicebank was given an avatar and personality, building an entire culture with these characters at its core.

Spanning across multiple media, Vocaloid-related works include songs, novels, arts, videos, and even concerts. This fan-based culture seemed to have suffered a decline in interest, thus this study is conducted to investigate this assumption.
